Dairy barn on farm land at Cooper Road and Cleveland Ave.
I’m continuing to visit the farm land along Cooper Road where it passes along Alum Creek and ends at Cleveland Avenue. After a few more changes in the plans presented to the city council most of this land will become a business and apartment complex with a senior care facility at it’s center.
There will be a park along the edge of the creek and green space scattered throughout the complex but the large swaths of hay and crop fields will disappear under concrete, steel and asphalt. When completed almost 25% of the working farm land in Westerville will be gone.
I have not seen the complete plans but have been told they do not include the old barn. I hope I’m wrong. When farm land along Old Westerville Road in Genoa Township was converted to houses the developers kept two barns that today stand as markers of the original use of the land. One is used as a small community center for movies and meetings in the warmer months.
Let’s hope I’m wrong and there is a plan to save the barn.

One red tulip blooming in the garden in front of city hall.
It was one of those days. It was raining off and on. The cloud was a giant gray covering. I was tired. My feet hurt.
Still, I searched for the sometimes elusive My Final Photo.
Usually making a selection from my day’s shoot is simple. The best photo of the day stands out. On a day like this nothing but a red tulip against a green sea of not yet blooming relatives is the best that I could muster.
The only thing I can good about it is how great it will work in a layout if the editor needed to reverse copy out of the green space.
That’s probably not a bad selling point.

Storm clouds move over baseball field at Huber Village Park
A youth baseball coach watches with one eye over his team during practice and with his other eye studies the progress of a storm front beginning to move into Westerville late in the afternoon.
After only several minutes of practice the team, and all the others playing in the park, were forced to leave as the sky darkened, the temperature fell about 15 degrees, and rain began to fall.

Best seats in the house at Otterbein Baseball
Relatively ordinary day with a late afternoon bike ride through and near Uptown with a side trip through the Otterbein campus where students, professors, and family gathered to watch the season opener for the baseball team.
Thought the best way together it all in was a multiple frame semi-panorama showing their raised seating on the earthen berm separating the campus from a nearby neighborhood.
