I carry a bunch of notebooks and a variety of pens and pencils. I’ve written in a notebook during Sunday services, pulled off to the side of the road and into parking lots to write down what I don’t want to forget, and thrust pen and paper at my wife in the passenger seat with instructions to write exactly what I say. Notetaking is essential to me finding photos every day. It doesn’t matter what type of notebook you use. It matters that you use it.

It rained all day. I made photographs most of that time. Well, at least I looked for photographs from the dry, safe confines of my car. I did step out several times and drying my cameras is easy with a simple and effective tool. I keep at least half a dozen in my car and more at home.

I’m sticking with the story that it was the wind that blew my drone into a building. It’s not my fault. It’s never my fault.

I’d planned exactly what I wanted to shot first thing in the morning When my subjects, a crew of construction workers, weren’t doing what I expected I pivoted and used experience to put me on a path for a photo.
